This album has an extraordinarily original and continually surprising soundscape. Watts blows melody as he finds and creates it with a skittering beauty as in End Of The Road or Gentle Love, with the natural timbre of naked birdsong, an English-sounding very Pennine birdsong which I hear around me every day, but sung here over Mensah's African earth and out of Ghana's shrubs, grass and trees. Hear nature's keening lyrics in Yatra Groove, for example.

Yet other lands are invoked too, as in Latino Shuffle where sounds imbibed in Venezuela pour out of Watts's global horn, all grounded by McKenzie's relentless heartbeat and Mensah's ever-inventive variety of percussive rhythms streaming from their African source.
